Anger as dog mess left on new Suggitt’s Lane bridge
Several people have already taken to social media to express their frustration after discovering dog mess abandoned on the new Suggitt’s Lane bridge.
The bridge, which opened to the public at 2pm yesterday, had been accessible for less than 24 hours at the time of the reports.
Speaking via social media, one upset resident reported how he had gone to see the bridge for the first time since it opened, and was disappointed to find that a dog Walker had already left a bag of mess hanging from the new railings.
He wrote: “I went for a late night walk last night to see the new bridge. It looks fantastic – just a shame to see that people already aren’t picking up after their pets and are leaving poo bags hanging from the bridge.”
One person added: “And so it begins. We simply cannot have anything nice without some selfish person ruining it.
“Absolutely no consideration, especially given the bridge has been tailored to the disabled and vulnerable. I hope the culprits are caught and dealt with!”
“I’ve already seen multiple stains from dog mess on the bridge. It’s just disgusting,” said another.
According to reports, CCTV cameras were included in the £3.6m development and have been installed.
Anyone caught failing to pick up after their dogs or to properly dispose of waste could find themselves handed a £100 fine.
North East Lincolnshire Council have been contacted for a statement.
Locals can report concerns about litter or mess via the council website.
