Woman killed in tragic incident on A16

A female motorcyclist has tragically been confirmed to have died following a serious collision near Louth yesterday.

A large section of the A16 was closed for several hours following reports of a ‘serious’ collision involving a car and a motorbike.

The incident was first reported at 3.28pm today, Sunday 20 March.

Two people were taken to hospital as a result – a motorcyclist who sustained serious injuries, and the driver of a car who suffered minor injuries.

Now, a Lincolnshire Police update has confirmed that the 52-year-old motorcyclist has sadly died as a result of her injuries.

Officers are now appealing to witnesses for information and dash-cam footage.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal collision on the A16 London Road, Burwell.

“A motorbike and Ford Kuga were involved in the collision at the Maiden Well Lane junction at around 3.28pm today, Sunday 20 March.

“We can confirm the motorcyclist, a woman aged 52, sadly died at the scene. The driver of the car received minor injuries.

“The road was closed and is expected to re-open in the early hours. Next of kin are aware.

“We would like to hear from anyone in the area who may have witnessed this collision, or anyone who may have dash-cam footage.|
