Grimsby chef caught in £50k drug scheme

A man working as a chef in Grimsby has been jailed having being caught distributing cannabis to customers.

According to reports, Mohammed Islam, 26, and his friend Jordan Tomlinson, 22, were giving out drugs for free as part of a “customer loyalty scheme”.

The pair were caught after being stopped by police in a Citroen C2 in December 2018.

Officers discovered cannabis valued at £3,670 in the vehicle, alongside £243 in cash and £1,700 in counterfeit £20 notes.

A property occupied by Islam was also searched, and officers found more cannabis with a value of nearly £4,000.

Islam told police the drugs were for his own personal use.

But appearing at Grimsby Crown Court Islam admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

He also admitted possessing counterfeit money.

Tomlinson also admitted three offences of supplying cannabis.

Islam was sentenced to a total of five years in jail.

Tomlinson received a total of 14 months in prison.
