One mans walk from Edinburgh Castle to Ross Castle for charity
A local man is undertaking a colossal charity walk from Edinburgh Castle in Scotland to our very own Ross Castle in Cleethorpes for charity.
Paul Le Roy has begun his journey from Edinburgh Castle in aid of Diabetes UK after walking from Cleethorpes to London for charity four years ago.
After Paul’s father-in-law suffered a medical episode, he felt “in awe” of all the people who looked after his father-in-law whilst he was in the hospital.
As a way to say thank you, Paul set up his initial walk from Cleethorpes to London to raise money to help fund all the amazing work that the hospital carries out.
Now, in a bid to hit more cities and raise money for Diabetes UK, Paul set off from Edinburgh Castle on Saturday 26 March, and is now slowly making his way back to Cleethorpes.
After starting in Edinburgh, Paul then plans to visit Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, and Scarborough castles before finishing at Ross Castle Cleethorpes.
Talking about undertaking the ambitiously long walk alone Paul told Gi Media: “I got into walking some years ago and seven years ago I did a 42-mile walk in a day.
“I think after that I just caught the bug for it I suppose. I’m happy to walk for 15, 20 miles at a time.”
Paul aims to finish his walk at Ross Castle on April 9 and will be happily setting off to a nearby pub to celebrate his fantastic efforts for a well-deserving charity.
Paul has very nearly hit his target of £500, anyone who wishes to donate can head to his Just Giving page which can be found here.
