First Downing Street officials receive lockdown party fines

According to reports, officials have started to receive emails giving out fines.

The fines have been handed out as a response to the controversial ‘Partygate’ scandal.

The Metropolitan police said on Monday that they were issuing 20 penalty notices.

They reportedly have “Reasonable belief” those involved attended gatherings during the lockdown.

The Met suggested the fines were part of a “First tranche”.

One of the events on 18th June is about some of the fines that have been handed out.

There has been not much clarity on the subject of fines, with the PM allegedly ready to admit if he receives one.

No10 has said they will provide updates if the PM receives a fine.

According to reports he has refused to accept that a fine would mean he has broken the law, however.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast, A Home Office minister said ” A fixed-penalty notice means police have a reasonable belief that you’ve broken the law”.

“Having said that, the police practice is not routinely to release the names of those who receive fixed penalties, and I don’t see why that rule should be waived for those people who may or may not be in receipt of it in Downing Street”.

According to reports, the fines will be £50, depending on severity.
