Grimsby set for more travel disruption
North East Lincolnshire Council is planning road safety improvement works along Humberstone Road and its junction with Durban Road.
The works are to be reportedly carried out by EC Surfacing Ltd.
The works are planned to start on Monday 11 April and allegedly, will take four weeks to complete.
“All works will take place during daytime hours between 7:30 and 6 pm.”.
“The works will improve pedestrian and driver safety with the introduction of a new raised table, realignment of the footpath curb for the bus stop (at the Durban Road junction), new 20mph speed limit signage and road markings, in addition to two new lowered pedestrian crossing points (dropped curbs) at the Fairmont Road and Columbia Road junctions.”.
The works are set to be in two phases.
On the NELC website the phases are outlined:
Phase 1
“Construction of the uncontrolled pedestrian crossing points (dropped curbs) on Fairmont Road and Columbia Road, at their junctions with Humberstone Road. These works will start on Monday 11 April and will be completed by Thursday 14 April.
“Road closures will be in place on both Fairmont Road and Columbia Road from their junctions with Humberstone Road for approximately 20 meters. A signed diversion route will be in place. Access will be maintained for residents of Fairmont Road and Columbia Road from Roberts Street only.”
Phase 2
“Construction of the raised table and footpath curb realignment for the bus stop arrangement at the Humberstone Road/Durban Road junction and additional 20mph speed limit signage. These works will start on Tuesday 19 April and end on Friday 6 May.
“To enable these works to be carried out safely, a road closure will be in place on Humberstone Road, from the Durban Road junction southwards to No. 73 Humberstone Road. A signed diversion route will be in place.
“Three-way temporary traffic signals will also be in place to manage traffic on Durban Road and Humberstone Road (north of the Durban Road junction). Access for residents of Humberstone Road will be from the south only (Runswick Road).”
