Arthur’s House ‘will not reopen’
The landlord who owns the unit which currently houses Arthur’s House in Cleethorpes has confirmed that the popular restaurant has now closed for good.
This follows an incident this morning where enforcement notices were placed on the windows of the Sea View Street restaurant.
According to eyewitnesses, three men, one of whom is thought to be the previous tenant, were spotted arriving a short while later.
One of the men pasted an image to cover the enforcement notices, which stated that the occupants “right to occupy the premises has been brought to an end and the premises have been secured.”
The letter continues: “Further take note that no person may lawfully enter onto these premises unless they have been authorised by the Landlords/Agents to do so.
“Any attempt by any person to enter these premises without the Landlord/Agents previous authority could amount to a criminal offence and may result in prosecution.”
Another was seen breaking the window in the front door in order to enter the property.
Police officers arrived on scene soon after.
Now, a spokesperson for the landlord Arthur Burton Ltd has confirmed that the restaurant has closed for good.
They said: “Wilkin Chapman changed the locks and placed the forfeiture notice around 6.30am this morning.
“A few hours later, we heard that a window had been smashed and the door was drilled out, and called the police.
“This is the end of Arthur’s House – it won’t be reopening.
“We will have a very exciting new bar opening in the space by the end of the month, however.”
Updates to follow.
