Frustration as chaos continues at Toll Bar Roundabout

Locals have taken to social media to express their frustration as roadworks continue to cause delays for motorists attempting to use Toll Bar roundabout in New Waltham, Grimsby.

The roundabout has been the object of much controversy for several years.

Works first began back in 2020, almost two years ago.

The final stage of ‘improvement’ works began in February and has seen new trees planted and wildflower seeds sown.

Now, new roadworks have resulted in fresh complaints.

According to the AA, temporary 4-way traffic lights have been put in place due to a construction scheme between the A16 Louth Road and B1219 Station Road.

The lights have been in place since at least Friday and were functional over the weekend, despite locals reporting no works having taken place.

Speaking via Facebook one frustrated local wrote: “The temporary lights at Toll Bar roundabout are causing an absolute nightmare all the way up to Peaks Parkway.

“The traffic is bumper to bumper and very other route is also congested as everyone is trying alternatives. It’s ridiculous!”

Another said: “Perfect timing for roadworks, right as people are trying to get their kids to school.

“It’s chaos. Why can’t the works take place overnight like they do elsewhere?”

It is currently unclear how long the new works will continue.

Updates to follow.
