Locals react to Arthur’s bar closure

The landlord who owns the unit which currently houses Arthur’s House in Cleethorpes has confirmed that the popular restaurant has now closed for good.

This follows an incident this week where enforcement notices were placed on the windows of the Sea View Street restaurant.

According to eyewitnesses, three men, one of whom is thought to be the previous tenant, were spotted arriving a short while later.

One of the men pasted an image to cover the enforcement notices, which stated that the occupants “right to occupy the premises has been brought to an end and the premises have been secured.”

The letter continues: “Further take note that no person may lawfully enter onto these premises unless they have been authorised by the Landlords/Agents to do so.

“Any attempt by any person to enter these premises without the Landlord/Agents previous authority could amount to a criminal offence and may result in prosecution.”

Another was seen breaking the window in the front door in order to enter the property.

Police officers arrived on scene soon after.

Now, a spokesperson for the landlord Arthur Burton Ltd has confirmed that the restaurant has closed for good.

Locals were quick to comment on the closure, with hundreds of comments flocking.

“I actually liked Arthurs before Covid, hope the new bar is the same as last ” One posted a comment.

“It’s the staff I feel for” Another posted to social media.

There are some that are angry at the closure, due to the possibility of losing out on funds.

“What happens to the £80 deposit I paid the other day?” One user wrote.
A number of premises have closed since, prompting those to question on social media:
“How does he keep getting more and more premises and licences ?” An individual wrote on social media.
” What a shame another one gone”.
” Feels like everything is closing these days”.
