Beach guidelines for dog owners for the upcoming holidays

The council have released some guidelines for dog owners in preparation for the upcoming holidays.

As always, you are asked to look after our beach and the local wildlife.

Additionally, the council has urged you to be aware of fast incoming tides to ensure the safety of yourself and your canine companion.

You are advised to leave sand banks six hours before high tides are expected, and to avoid mud where possible.

Dogs ARE NOT allowed on the beach between the Leisure Centre and Wonderland groyne starting from Good Friday until 30 September.

To remind dog owners of the restricted area, signs have been erected to offer guidance on the affected locations.

Unfortunately, if you breach the restrictions during the dates mentioned, you will be fined £100.

458 people received a fine last year after taking their dogs on the beach while restrictions were in place.

The council have stressed if you plan on bringing your pup to the resort, always ensure you have dog poo bags ready to tidy up any mess.

If you fail to pick up your dog’s mess, you will be fined £100.

An extra £100 fine could be issued if you do not possess a poo bag or other means to clean up after your pet.

More information can be found on the council’s website.
