A180 works expected to finish tonight Highways England confirms

There is a light at the end of the tunnel for frustrated motorists at the roadworks on the A180 are expected to finish tonight (8 April).

Highways England told Gi Media that the works will end overnight tonight but that the temporary speed limit will stay in place until later this month.

National Highways Project manager Steve Bishop said: “The barrier work on the A180 Stallingborough to Great Coates scheme is expected to be completed overnight from tonight (Friday).

“The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight to enable the work to be safely completed.

“Progress on this important safety upgrade was slightly delayed by the storms in February and the discovery of underground cables, which meant the excavation process required a slower, more careful approach as an extra safety measure. However, after tonight, we will have completed the new barrier system.

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience while this important safety scheme has been delivered.”

Temporary speed limits will remain in place until 21 April on the westbound carriageway and 23 April on the eastbound.

Highways England said these are still required as an extra safety measure for drivers until all the work in the area has been completed, including the removal of the safety camera system.

This part of the work is planned to take place immediately after the Easter holiday.

There will be overnight closures of the westbound carriageway between Brocklesby Interchange and Pyewipe roundabout on the nights of 19 and 20 April, and then of the eastbound carriageway between the same two points on the nights of 21 and 22 April.

Once this work is completed the road will revert to its permanent speed limit.
