Scunny bikers to treat children in hospital with Easter Eggs
Scunny bikers are set to deliver a sweet treat this Easter for children in hospital.
Children who are being looked after on the Disney Ward at Scunthorpe hospital will receive a sweet delivery full of special treats, thanks to the popular East egg run organised by Scunny Bikers.
The bikers are set to arrive at the hospital in time for Good Friday (15 April) ready to donate Easter eggs and other sweet treats.
The event had been cancelled for two years in a row thanks to the pandemic. This year, the bikers will meet hospital staff outside.
To make the delivery run smoothly, the hospital charity, the Health Tree Foundation (HTF) will help staff share the donations between the children.
The bikers will gather at the The Old Farmhouse pub and restaurant on Doncaster Road around 11am, ready to set off for 12pm.
During their shopping spree, the motorcyclists will head over to Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s to obtain eggs and toys, before their egg-citing journey takes them to the Church Lane entrance of the hospital.
Event organiser, Gavin Stubbs said:
“It is great to be back after we had to cancel the last two Easter runs. Historically, we have seen between 100 and 150 riders taek part, especially when the weather is nice”
“I want to say a big thank you to the local community and businesses for all the donations. Our members absolutely love putting a smile on the children’s’ faces. It is a wonderful way to celebrate Easter by donating to our local hospital”, he added.
Vikki McAlpline, the Disney Ward Manager said:
“We are truly grateful to Scunny Bikers for organising their Easter egg run. The children’s faces light up when they see all of the fantastic donations. It’s tough for children in hospital over Easter and this helps take their mind off what they’re going through”
Laura Gooderham, HTF Community Champion for Scunthorpe, added:
“It is fantastic that Scunny Bikers are able to provide a cracking good time for the children in hospital this year. This will make a huge difference to the children on the ward”
