The Mariners have a massive weekend of football ahead
The Mariners have a massive weekend ahead of them as they are set to play top of the league.
Grimsby will be hoping to obtain promotion out of the National League this year via the playoffs, meaning the club will need some huge performances before the season concludes.
This weekend, the Black and White Army will face top of the league Stockport County at home, Town hoping for a similar performance during the repeat fixture earlier in the season.
However, on Monday (18 April) the Mariners will take a ‘must-win’ attitude with them as they travel to league strugglers, King’s Lynn Town.
Grimsby has fewer than 10 matches left this season which includes multiple away fixtures, seemingly the Mariners kryptonite.
Compared to other promotion hopefuls, Grimsby’s away record is a concern, however the Town gaffer led his side to a crucial three points against Chesterfield, proving anything is possible in football.
Results aside, the Black and White Army has had a collection of inspirational performances in recent weeks.
Fan favorites John McAtee and Harry Cliffton have been particularly pertinent to the final third success Town have displayed.
Dieseruvwe and Holohan have also impressed.
If the Mariners can put in two big performances this weekend, National League promotion would become a real possibility.
