Stagecoach changes fares for the first time in three years
Stagecoach has changed fares for the first time in three years, it has been announced.
In addition to ticket price alterations, Stagecoach has stated that dogs will be able to travel for free.
The Lincolnite have reported that the changes announced will come into play from April 25 for services across Stagecoach East Midlands.
The services cover Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Gainsborough, Hull, Lincoln, Mansfield, Skegness and Worksop.
Singles will begin from just £1 across the region.
Customers who are paying for a single journey will pay no more than £4.50.
It is understood there will now only be four price bands for singles and returns. These bands will factor in the overall length of your travel.
To elaborate, an off-peak single from Lincoln to Sleaford would typically cost around £6.80, but that would see a significant reduction to £4.50 from April 25, once the changes are introduced.
Currently, a single to Skegness from Lincoln costs the customer £7.70, which is set to be downscaled to just £4.50.
Furthermore, a new line of flexible DayRider tickets will be introduced, which includes Flexi 5 and Flexi 10 bundles, offering customers 12 months to use their unlimited daily travel tickets.
This would save the user upwards of 30% when compared to purchasing tickets on their own.
People aged 19 and under will also reap the benefits of Stagecoach’s new system.
For example, the company will introduce tickets aimed at the younger demographic at a discounted price.
Additionally, family tickets for three children and two adults are being replaced by five-person group tickets from £12.
Day Out tickets are now set to cost just £5.
Matthew Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands said:
“Stagecoach is a business well known for innovation and we are introducing new ticket types to simplify our bus fares and ensure that bus travel is convenient, affordable and straight-forward whilst still offering great value for money”
“The introduction of a wider range of tickets for young people is focused on enabling them to better access more affordable transport, through a ticket range suited to different needs”, he added.
“Following the pandemic, with the focus on a more flexible lifestyle, our new Flexi tickets enable people to travel on a great value ticket at times that suit them”
“Improving the range of our tickets available for purchase both online and through our app means we are well placed to welcome customers on to our services and play a key role in rebuilding the economy and reconnecting our communities in a sustainable way”
