Deer rescued by residents after getting stuck in fence

A muntjac deer was rescued by members of the public after getting trapped in a fence in Cleethorpes.

Neighbours removed the trapped deer and contacted the local rescue team as deer can become stressed and even die from human intervention.

The poor animal sustained lots of cuts and small lacerations but thankfully no major damage was sustained.

The deer will be left to rest until the team makes further examinations to help keep it calm.

Sadly muntjac deer are an invasive species that cannot be legally released back to the wild once captured so they’re often put to sleep.

Thankfully the Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue team won’t let that happen as they work with some wonderful deer sanctuaries that can house the deer once it’s healthy again.

Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said: “Neighbours had to remove this trapped muntjac deer from a fence in Cleethorpes and called us after getting the deer secure.

“It has quite a lot of abrasions and small lacerations but nothing too major has been found. Deer are very sensitive to human interaction and die very easily when stressed so we will allow it time to rest before doing a further examination.

“Muntjac deer are an invasive species that cannot be legally released back to the wild once captured so they’re often put to sleep, however, we work with fantastic deer sanctuaries across the UK who will house them for life once healthy again!”
