Aftermath of rooftop standoff in Grimsby

A man was seen on a roof of a Grimsby house into the early hours of this morning, reportedly causing damage and the roof later caught fire.

According to reports, the man was seen throwing tiles from the roof of the property, which the damage can be seen today.

The incident took place on Lincoln Boulevard and is understood to have started yesterday.

At the scene large crowds were understood to have gathered and some residents were evacuated.

It is understood Humberside Police and Fire Service were in attendance, with riot police reportedly on the scene.

There were cordons on the scene as the incident progressed and some remain on the scene today.

One resident was heard saying she was fed up with the bad reputation the area gets, from instances such as this.

According to an Officer guarding the scene, the man exited the roof at around 5am this morning, after being on the roof since Thursday evening.
