Grimsby to play penultimate ‘must win’ home fixture this afternoon!

Grimsby Town will play their penultimate home fixture of the season this afternoon, a must win game to keep play-offs dreams alive.

The Mariners are on a promising unbeaten streak of seven games, their last defeat recorded in March!

Despite multiple problematic injury blows, such as John McAtee, one of Grimsby’s most dangerous players, the Black and white Army have put on a collection of breathtaking displays.

Last weekend, Town came from behind to steal a point from a resilient Barnet side, thanks to two late goals from Andy Smith and Luke Waterfall.

Although a scrappy affair, the 2-2 draw retained the Mariners unbeaten streak and kept a play-off spot a real possibility.

Since McAtee’s injury blow, numerous players have stepped up to nullify potential goal threat concerns. Clifton, Abrahams and Dieseruwe have all looked impressive.

Today’s opposition, Maidenhead United, currently side in 16th place. However, their recent form has improved as they come into the game unbeaten in six.

The Mariners will be using the full support of Blundell Park, both today and on Tuesday (10 May) as the players make one final push for the play-offs.

A sell-out crowd is expected today as fans look to cheer on the boys! Will you be there?
