Temporary traffic lights start at Peaks Parkway from today

From today (9 May), temporary traffic lights will be in use on a section of Peaks Parkway in Grimsby.

Contractors have the following arrangements in place for the B&Q junctions:

  • Three-way temporary traffic signals from Monday 9 May until Friday 10 June
  • Three-way temporary traffic signals and some night-time closures from 11 June to 17 June
  • Temporary lights will be in place using the same sequence as the existing traffic signals from 18 June to 8 July
  • Three-way temporary traffic signal in place while the new traffic signals are installed from 9 to 15 July

The council and their partners’ EQUANS want to combine their depot services in Doughty Road to update the facilities and bring their workers back into the town centre.

These sites will be used for services pertinent to waste and recycling, fleet management, highway maintenance, street cleansing, security, civil enforcement, licensing, property maintenance, grounds maintenance and ecology.

The biggest change within the proposed refurbishment is the new main entrance into Peaks Parkway. The completion date is due around 2023.

Importantly, the depot will remain active whilst the works are in process.

A spokesperson for North East Lincolnshire Council said:

“There could be disruption to journeys in the area while the temporary traffic lights are in use. This is part of the ongoing refurbishment of the site. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused”

“Doughty Road Depot is becoming outdated and needs to be redeveloped to cater for the services that will be based there”, they added.

“Bringing our depots together on one site will reduce our property maintenance costs, improve service efficiency and provide good quality facilities for the workforce”

“The property improvements will also help us improve the energy efficiency of our buildings and move toward a zero-emissions vehicle fleet”
