Former darts world champion Ted Hankey jailed for sexual assault 

Former darts world champion, Ted Hankey, has been jailed after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault. 

Chester Crown Court heard how the 54-year-old pinned a young woman down and sexually assaulted her. 

Judge Steven Everett, Recorder of Chester, said the former world champion would have continued to deny the allegation until “the bitter end”, had the attack not been captured on camera. 

Sky News reported that the footage was played to the judge after the courtroom had been emptied of press and the public. 

Hankey pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault at an earlier hearing in Crewe, Cheshire last year.
