Police partner with schools to tackle ‘problem parking’

Humberside Police will team up with schools to tackle ‘problem parking’.

Earlier in the month, Humberside Police began to conduct regular foot patrols following a rise of illegal and potentially dangerous parking near schools.

These patrols had been executed on streets near Berkley Primary and St Augustine Webster schools in Scunthorpe.

Now, in a statement, the force stated they would be working with schools to tackle dangerous parking habits.

“Police are working with Schools, the local authority, and partner agencies to tackle problem parking in and around schools in the Bottesford Ward”, the statement said.

Residents were quick to issue a response, some with stronger opinions than others.

One local suggested that if proper parking measures were available, parents would not need to park illegally.

“It’s about time they tackled the problem parking on Column Ave! Dozens of free parking spaces within a two-minute walk of St Bede’s, yet parents choose to double park, park on double yellows, park across resident’s driveways etc”, added a frustrated pedestrian.

“Queenswood rose is ridiculous, especially turning into from timberlands. Plus, people dumping their car in junction with Rossall Close and near that nursery”, added another.

Furthermore, North Lincolnshire residents argued that parking was a general concern across the town, not just around educational facilities.

What are your experiences with dangerous parking across the town?
