The Mariners will face Notts County in the play-offs for a chance to advance into the semi-finals.
Grimsby Town’s highly anticipated play-off eliminator match is finally here!
Tonight, the Black and White Army will travel to Meadow Lane as they look to replicate a winning result there earlier in the season.
The Magpies beat Grimsby at Blundell Park earlier in the campaign, thanks to a Ruben Rodrigues goal in stoppage time.
However, in the reverse fixture, the Mariners came from behind to snatch three points at Meadow Lane, the venue for tonight’s fixture, in a 2-1 victory.
Speaking to Planet Radio ahead of the match, Town gaffer, Paul Hurst said he has researched Notts County’s strong and weak points in preparation for kick-off.
Adding:
“One way or another, whether it’s normal time or extra time or penalties we’ll know our fate. And we’ll be moving onto either our next game. Or reflecting and moving onto our plans for next season”
“Obviously I’ve put a lot of work into looking at Notts County and getting it across in terms of things that we feel Notts County do well and things we think we do well, and knit all that together”
“It’s not something that’s going to phase me or get too worked up about”
“But at the same time of course they’re big games – games you want to be involved in, if you haven’t been fortunate enough to get an automatic spot”
Only 2,00 tickets had been issued to Grimsby Town by the hosts, a notion that displeased the club. As a result, Grimsby will screen the match at McMenemy’s.
If you are attending the event at Blundell Park, the club has advised you to arrive early if you plan on placing a food order.
The doors will open at 6:30pm – all tickets have been sold out, Town have announced.
