Exciting events planned for the Jubilee bank holiday!

Exciting events and festivities are set to take place across Northern Lincolnshire over the jubilee bank holiday.

The booze has been bought in bulk, the party plates are ready and the clothes are waiting on the hanger, so here’s our list of what you can expect for the Queen’s jubilee celebrations!

In Cleethorpes, a large crown beacon will light up the night sky on Thursday 2 June at 10 pm, with the party starting at 4:30 pm.

Armed forces have arranged for Alexandra Road to be closed from Yarra Road to The Knoll where people are encouraged to bring a picnic and refreshments.

Live entertainment, including a five-piece band, will begin playing at 7 pm.

Similar beacons will be lit up in Louth, Scunthorpe, and on the south bank of the Humber Bridge.

Grimsby’s main event will take place on Sunday, June 5, with the Orsted Grimsby 10k race starting at Grimsby Town Hall.

Those who live on the race route are invited to cheer on runners from the doorsteps and have a jubilee breakfast in their front gardens.

Once the race has finished locals are invited to People’s Park for the Jubilee Picnic in the Park, hosted by the Culture House.

Pack your own picnic or try a tasty bite from one of the many stalls while enjoying the live entertainment and walkabout performances.

The finish line event will be full of free activities and an exciting performance from The Humber Taiko, who will drum runners across the finish line.

On Saturday 4 June head down to Grimsby’s Top Town Market for their Platinum Party in the Market, celebrating with plenty of good food and amazing stalls.

In Louth on Thursday, June 2, the jubilee will be marked with a bugle call outside St James’s Church as the mayor lights a beacon – one of more than 1,500 across the UK and overseas.

The bugle call ‘Majesty’ will be played by Adam Barter at 9.40 pm at St. James’ Church, as the beacon will be lit at 9.45 pm.

A Big Lunch event will be hosted by Louth Independent Traders in Louth town centre and Spout Yard Park will welcome visitors to a Jubilee Celebration family event on Friday, June 3, from 1 pm to 5 pm.

In Barton Upon Humber a party will be held in Baysgarth Park from 9 am-2 pm on Thursday, June 2.

In the evening, a flotilla of 70 vessels will set sail on the Humber Estuary, setting off from Hull Marina and sailing to the Humber Bridge.

The flotilla will be led by an ABP pilot boat and will include inshore lifeboats operated by Humber Rescue, and an eclectic mix of pleasure boats, fire-fighting tugs, and fast patrol boats from Humberside Police and Humberside Fire Service, the MCA, and Trinity House. Historic ships will include Humber sloops and keels and fishing trawlers.

Barton town council will then light their beacon next to the Humber Bridge at around 9.45 pm.

The parish council in Holton le Clay has erected a jubilee bench opposite the Royal Oak.

The village cricket club will also host a teddy bear picnic on the Friday while on Saturday a firework display will light up the sky near the A16 on Saturday between 9.30 pm and 10 pm.

Scunthorpe’s Benefice of St Lawrence in Frodingham and All Saints New Brumby will host a service of thanksgiving for the Jubilee to be attended by the new Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Councillor John Briggs, on June 5. A community bring-your-own picnic, with activities, including fancy dress, treasure hunt, and the magician will be held.

Bottesford Town Council is staging a Beer Festival and Picnic in the Park on June 4. The event includes a bonny dog competition, a baking competition, a portrait of the Queen competition, fancy dress, music, a craft exhibition, and classic cars.

Not to mention the many street parties that have been planned by excited locals, ready to celebrate the Queen’s long and dutiful service to her country.
