Scunthorpe’s Armed Forces Day set to be ‘bigger and better than ever’

Scunthorpe’s Armed Forces Day is set to be “bigger and better than ever”, than council stated

This year, Scunthorpe will host a wonderful event, jam-packed with family fun, to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

The entire day will be FREE for all to enjoy – a spitfire flypast and a zone dedicated for children are just some of the activities planned!

The day will begin at 11am at Brumby Hall Sports Ground, Scunthorpe, and will last until 4pm on 18 June.

The event will include live music on stage from the Barton Community Band, Scunthorpe Concert Band, and the Sarah Eastwood Band.

Additionally, families will be able to enjoy an amazing military parade, a cadet village and cadet games, re-enactments, picnic area, a marvellous fun fair, and several stalls for local groups and organisations.

The children’s area will include meet and greets with famous faces such as Lol Dolls Diva and Unicorn, Mickey and Minnie, face painting, book readings, and numerous party games and activities to keep the little ones entertained.

Police and Crime commissioner, Jonathan Evison said:

“I’m delighted to be sponsoring this year’s North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day, as part of my work I provide funding to help forces veterans who find it difficult to adjust to civilian life after their service.

“This event is a great opportunity to thank all our servicemen and women and also to recognise those who have served in the past”, he added.

Cllr Elaine Marper, Armed Forces Champion for North Lincolnshire Council said:

“North Lincolnshire Armed Forces Day is always a wonderful free day out for the family. This year is set to be no different, with even more for all the family to get involved in – including a children’s arena.

“As ever, we are delighted to show our support for our brave servicemen and women. The event recognises the important contribution our armed forces have made and continue to make to our country, and we thank them wholeheartedly for their service”, she added.
