Informative ‘Fitties’ themed creative drop-in day!

A creative fitties-themed drop-in will take place next month for an informative day celebrating collaborative projects.

The event is organised and shared by the ‘Projectfitties’ page on social media where details of the event can be found.

The group has also said there will be several events in unison over the summer, for those who may miss or cannot attend the event.

On the event page, it states the event will be on Saturday 4th June, between 11 am and 3 pm.

Artist Judith Tucker and Poet Harriet Tarlo will be celebrating their collaborative projects and will be keen to teach attendees more about the chalet’s heritage, the birds, and saltmarsh plants.

Also at the event, there will be exciting talks including the attendance of Nicola Hemmings, a bird scientist.

On their social media page they wrote:

“Drop in on Saturday 04 June at vintage chalet number 20 any time between 11 am and 3 pm where artist Judith Tucker, poet Harriet Tarlo, and bird scientist Nicola Hemmings will welcome you for a fun, creative, and informative day celebrating their collaborative projects “For every bird a nest” and “Hideaway”. Learn about the heritage of the chalets, the birds of the Fitties and their amazing breeding biology, and the saltmarsh plants with their extraordinary powers to survive under extreme conditions.

“See the art that Judith and Harriet have produced inspired by the Fitties and the environment around, and be one of the first to see their new artists’ book on local plants.

“There will be plenty of activities for all ages, including bird modelling, chalet building, egg painting, and themed word searches. We will also be delighted to hear the memories of residents and visitors to the chalets. This event is funded by the Royal Society and the Arts Council England.”
