Huge fund given to North Lincolnshire event organisers to enable Jubilee celebrations
A huge fund has been given to event organisers across North Lincolnshire from the council to enable Jubilee celebrations to go ahead.
Thanks to a sizeable donation from the North Lincolnshire Council, communities across our area will be able to enjoy the upcoming “blockbuster-bank holiday weekend” to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Around £20,000 has been allocated to several event organisers which will allow “dozens” of activities to take place in the region this extended weekend.
Cllr John Briggs, who was recently elected as the new North Lincolnshire Mayor, said:
“The Platinum Jubilee is a once in a generation event. It is only right that we come together to celebrate the Queen’s remarkable achievement and the people of North Lincolnshire have responded, organising a huge variety of fantastic events”
“To serve as Mayor during such a historic occasion is a special privilege and I’m looking forward to visiting many events over the bank holiday weekend, congratulating the hard-working volunteers who have made them happen, in person”, he added.
“We’ve seen over the past 18 months just what a fantastic community spirit North Lincolnshire has, and I’m sure this will be on show again over the bank holiday weekend. However residents are celebrating, I hope they enjoy the festivities”
Briggs will attend events with residents across our area this weekend – he will attend a special Picnic in the Park on Sunday 5 June at Normanby Hall County Park from 10am.
Family-friendly entertainment, such as live music and a fantastic spitfire fly-past, will keep visitors excited.
