By Mariners react after earning promotion yesterday!
Grimsby Town fans have shared their feeling via joyous messages across social media after Town beat Solihull Moors in the play-off final.
Yesterday marked a day that Town fans will remember for a long time to come!
The Mariners had initially earned a route to promotion after finishing in 6th place in the National League, the lowest ranked side in the play-off journey!
All three fixtures during the Mariners play-off triumph had been forced into extra time, further evidencing how hard Paul Hurst’s men had to work.
Additionally, each match began with Grimsby conceding the opening goal which again, illustrated Town’s determination to earn the right to play League Two football next season.
After the final whistle yesterday (5 June), GTFC fans flooded social media with emotional messages, incredible pictures capturing celebrations, and even videos which displayed fans of all generations coming together!
“What an absolutely incredible season it has been. It’s an absolute joy to support this team. Onwards and upwards we go together”, added one proud Mariner.
“Still haven’t come back down to earth. Thank you for yesterday, Town”, said another.
In addition to the wonderful messages shared by thousands of die-hard Grimsby fans, parents of young children stated how marvellous the experience was – one parent claims her children “will never forget their first final” before congratulating the 20,000+ supporters’ behaviour at the game.
“What a day yesterday was! Both kids stood up for the full 120 minutes and were so well behaved”, added another.
“Loved being part of the GTFC success story yesterday with the family. What a season and back in the League!”, said another.
