Scunthorpe bikers close to hitting donation goal for amazing cause
Scunthorpe bikers are extremely close to hitting their donation goal for a great cause.
A group of six bikers set off on an amazing journey across the world, travelling through counties such as the UK, France, Holland, Belgium, Andorra, and Spain, all in the aid of charity!
John Haynes, the event’s organiser, decided to plan a vast trip to raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice – the hospice that looked after his father, Rod Haynes.
Rod was a 1970s speedway star, the rationale behind the means of transportation for their long journey coined “Benidorm Bound”
The six friends collectively decided they would ride Honda C90s suggesting it would provide a “difficult” task for a great cause close to home.
The initial target was £10,000 which would have been donated to Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe. However, the group wanted to double their goal to £20,000 – the new target would now be split between the hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
During their international travel, the group endured several breakdowns and other hindering incidents, but thankfully their charitable determination prevailed, and the six bikers arrived at the finish line!
Speaking to a MotorcyleNews (MCN) shortly after arriving back home, John Haynes confirmed the group has raised almost £17,000 and has “no doubt” they will achieve their ultimate goal of £20k.
Additionally, John teased the group have further plans, adding:
“We’ve got other things planned and I’m quite confident we’ll make £20,000. It’s gone far further than I expected”
