By Entertaining action in the Tuesday Pool League again this week!
Last seasons league and cup doubles winners Showmans Army marched on into the second round with ease beating club mates, Showmans Hornets whilst the respective double runners up Fu Cue required a second double frame to get past Winterton Jubilee.
League leaders Mulligans Trojans narrowly avoided the shock of their life before wrapping up a place in round 2 in the decider against the plucky division 4 side Bottesford Town A.
Division 1 sides Beacon A, Showmans Chaos, Cobras, Broughton Club A and Brumby Hall all scored convincing wins against lower league opposition to progress, however, Redbourne Mods faced resistance at division 4 and team ko plate champions Fedoras before getting over the line with a 5-3 victory.
The only division 1 side eliminated thus far was Back in Black Beauty who tasted defeat, 5-2 at division 2 side Messingham Crown.
RAOB and Glennys Poachers won the bragging rights this week in all division 2 ties with 5-4 and 5-3 victories over Mill Road Black Cats and Mulligans Majestic Sausage Dogs respectively.
The lowest ranked side in the league Priory who sit 9th in division 7 scored their first win of the season in style defeating high flying Grosvenor. Jolly Sailor, Butchers Of Winterton and Keadby Club did the villages teams proud this week with victories.
Newcomers Keadby Club got the result of the round this week as the division 7 side took division 4 side Chancel A to a decider before securing their place in the next round in the final doubles frame.
Ashby venues Harrys Bar and Ashby Crown have both of their respective teams’ progress to the next round. Title chasing Mill Road Dynamite of division 5 picked up one of the nights best results, whitewashing division 3’s Chancel Flyers 5-0.
Staying in Ashby, both the Rats and the Rat Outcasts won convincingly against Foxhills Club and Mill Road DM.
Last season’s newcomers, Redbourne Madness 5-1 victory over title chasing Showmans Improvers of division 2 is also a strong contender for result of the round.
Stablemates Redbourne N’C join them in the second round winning 5-4 at Roxy Rack Em. Pig & Whistle and Schnapps Elite scored victories also with a deciding frame 5-4 victory.
RHH Hospital Club of division 4 came away from Black Beauty of division 2 with a 5-3 victory sending the hosts into the plate as they join a further 5 other sides from division 2 into the plate competition.
Schnapps A, Black Beauty B, Old Farmhouse and Mulligans Tight Rack complete the line-up for the last 32 of the team Ko which will be drawn in two weeks time whilst all sides losing in the preliminary round and first round enter the team Ko plate competition which will kick off next month.
