Michee Efete has signed a new contract with GTFC!

Michee Efte has signed a new contract with GTFC after impressing the Mariners last season.

Grimsby Town have confirmed they have retained Michee Efete, a talented right back, after leaving an impressive mark on the club. He will play his football at Bludnell Park until the summer of 2024, after signing a new two-year contract.

The 25-year-old appeared 30 times and netted four goals, which included the decisive goal at Notts County earlier in the year.

Efete will again join Luke Waterfall, who re-signed with the club last week, amongst the Mariners’ back line.

Speaking to the club, Efete said he was “over the moon” with the offer, adding:

“I’m thankful to the Gaffer and the Club for having faith in me. I’m loving playing for the Club, and I’m loving the town and the fans as well. I’m excited where this Club is going and I want to be a part of it.

“Last season was obviously a bit stop-start for me personally due to the injuries I received, but when I played, I thought I did well.”

Paul Hurst said he was “pleased” to learn the young defender agreed to stay with the club before suggesting he had “adapted to life well” during his stay.

“Obviously, he suffered a couple of injuries and we’re hopeful he can recover in time for the beginning of pre-season,” Hurst added.

“Michee offers a lot to us going forward, with his athleticism and pace, and we hope that he’ll continue to develop with us; albeit now in the EFL which will be a new challenge for him.”
