Scunthorpe MP joins group litter pick

Holly Mumby-Croft, the MP for Scunthorpe joined a community group litter pick yesterday (26 June).

In a collaborative attempt to keep our streets clean, North Lincolnshire Council and the Scunthorpe Litter Pickers (SLP) banded together yesterday on Frodingham Road to conduct a thorough tidy of the surrounding area.

The SLP were excited to be working alongside the council again, a relationship that has since provided members of the group with the necessary equipment to conduct such litter pickers.

Amongst those volunteering during Sunday’s pick was Scunthorpe MP Holly Mumby-Croft.

She spoke about her pride and gratitude for members of the group who kindly dedicate their free time to eradicate illegally dumped waste in a short ‘thank you’ message, which read:

“I know lots of residents will want to join me in thanking all of the wonderful people locally who give up their time to litter pick in our area.

“I was able to join ‘Scunthorpe Litter Pickers’ this morning in Frodingham Road and say a big ‘thank you’ to them for all their efforts.

“It’s a terrible shame that people drop litter and I hope one day our fantastic volunteers will no longer need to go out and collect it – but in the meantime please join me in thanking them for all they do.

“The work they do makes the area so much more pleasant and encourages that small minority to keep it that way and not to drop litter! You guys are heroes – thank you.”

Great work to all those involved! Well done guys.
