Amazing tractor enthusiasts raise £10,000 for Lindsey Lodge Hospice
A group of charitable tractor enthusiasts has raised an incredible sum of money for Scunthorpe charity, Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Tractor enthusiasts from across the country have joined together in a mission to raise money for Scunthorpe charity Lindsey Lodge.
In total, 82 tractors participated in the event, which began in JP Woodcrafts Yard in Goxhill, the home of the Humberside Tractor Run.
The tractors endured a 32-mile journey across North Lincolnshire to raise funds for charity.
The tractors passed through idyllic village scenery and were greeted by cheering spectators during the Tractor Run, before eventually finishing at the Royal Oak Pub in Barrow upon Humber.
One of the event organisers, Steve James said:
“For our Charity of the Year we really wanted to choose a local charity and quite a few of our event organisers lives have been touched by the Hospice.
“We saw it was Lindsey Lodge’s 30 birthday so it was the perfect opportunity for us to get involved and raise some money, knowing that it will go towards helping local People.”
The event, which was organised by Steve James, James Pearcy, Joseph Smithson, Will Dent, Dave Booth and Kay Smithson, took more than 6-months of dedication to plan and obtain the support from local businesses and farming communities from around the country.
Steve further stated the Tractor Run was a “great day for everyone involved,” adding:
“We really cannot thank everyone enough for their support. From all of the Tractor Run Committee and crew including the girls collecting donations on the day and selling merchandise, to the volunteers, sponsors, spectators and tractor drivers.
“Not forgetting Kay and all her hard working staff at the Royal Oak selling raffle tickets, serving food and drinks. Everyone made it a fantastic day and we are delighted to have raised so much.”
Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Kathryn Stewart said: “This is a huge amount of money that will really make a difference to our patients and their families.
“We really appreciate the support from everyone involved in the Tractor Run. I went along and it was a fantastic day for the whole family. I’d like to say a massive thank you on behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge!”
