Act of kindness as Scunthorpe hotel offer refuge from the extreme weather conditions
A hotel in Scunthorpe will open its doors and offer free refreshments as the town is set to experience extreme weather conditions.
Wortley House Hotel has received universal love after they confirmed they would open their doors free to the public if the heat becomes unbearable.
Staff also confirmed an ice-cold glass of water would accompany shelter from the sunshine!
As much of the country is set to endure temperatures reaching up to 40C, red weather warnings have been issued coinciding with messages to keep hydrated in the coming days.
With the unprecedented temperatures set to continue both today and tomorrow, Wortley House Hotel released a short statement via their social media channels to support passers-by in the town.
“I’m sure you know it’s going to be extremely hot over the next couple of days,” opened the statement.
“If you’re passing the hotel and need to take refuge from the sun, please just pop into reception, we’ll have a cool seat waiting & some cold water if you need some.
“We’ll also be happy to refill your water bottle.”
The generosity of the hotel was met with words of gratitude from residents, one thanking the management staff before adding it was “kind” and really “thoughtful.”
“What a lovely thoughtful gesture,” added another.
“Absolutely fantastic thing to offer, well done,” replied another.
If you are out in the sunshine this week, please stay hydrated!
