Top flight eliminations in SHOCK Pool League upsets!

The last 32 of the team ko round saw two of the top flight’s teams eliminated. The shock of the round was at Harry’s Bar as the sixth division side who are also the lowest ranked side left in the competition upset division 1 title challengers Mulligans Trojans.  

The hosts took a 4-2 lead during singles however the pair of Nick Godley and Brandon McGeechan put the tie to bed in the second set of doubles winning 5-3. Two of the top four sides in division 1 were drawn against each other as third played Fu Cue took on fourth placed Chaos.  

The tie eventually went in favour of last season’s beaten finalists Fu Cue as they wrapped up a 5-3 victory.

The remaining division 1 sides navigated their way in the last 16 with ease. Showman’s Army and Beacon A overcame Schnapps Elite and club mates Beacon Rats with whitewash victories.  

Promoted side Redbourne Mods also ensured there wasn’t going to be an upset as they overcame stable mates NnC 5-1. Broughton Club Pirates made short work of Mulligans Tight Rack winning 5-2 whilst Brumby Hall A were the seventh division 1 side to progress as they beat Pig & Whistle 5-1

One of the other upsets this round came at previous winners Glenny’s Poachers as they were eliminated at the hands of division 5 Mill Road Dynamite, losing 5-2. 

League newcomers Keadby Club of division 7 put in an excellent effort against division 2 side Ashby Crown A however the visitors got over the line in the second set of doubles to win 5-3.  

Division 5 champions Old Farmhouse needed a deciding frame victory over Ashby Crown B to progress.

Redbourne madness have made the last 16 of the team KO in only their second season in the league defeating division 4 runners up Harry’s Bar A 5-3.  

Black Beauty B of division 5 scored an impressive 5-1 victory at the Butchers of Winterton to progress. Division 4 title challengers Schnapps A were eliminated by relegation threatens Jolly Sailor as the sailors went back to Gunness with a 5-3 win.  

RAOB of division 2 also made their way through to the next round with a 5-2 win over RHH Hospital club whilst Beacon Ray Outcasts completed the last 16 line-up winning 5-1 at priory.

In the plate, division 4 Chancel A made their way into the first round with an impressive win over division 2 side Cocked Hat B.  

Promotion chasers Showman’s Improvers scored an impressive 5-1 win over Roxy Rack Em whistle Bottesford Town A and Liberal Club will be in the hat for the last 32 draw of the team KO plate.
