Stagecoach bus cancellations as driver shortage continues

More buses have been cancelled today in Grimsby and Cleethorpes as Stagecoach continues to struggle with staff shortages.

In recent months, multiple buses each day have been cancelled by Stagecoach, prompting anger amongst locals who have been left waiting up to half an hour for a bus to show.

Cancellations are posted each morning to Stagecoach East Midlands Twitter, and buses can be tracked live on the Stagecoach app.

Last month, bus fares also rose in the area in the first change in three years.

Locals were not happy as a single ticket rose from £1.80 to £2.20, a 20% increase.

According to Stagecoach, the cost of running buses has risen ‘significantly’ despite government funding to keep services running through the pandemic.

Fares will now be determined by price bands across the region, with the prices gradually increasing across each area of Grimsby.
