Two arrested after ‘gunshots’ heard down Rutland Street
Two men are currently in custody following an incident on Rutland Street in Grimsby yesterday afternoon (Thursday 27 October).
Officers were called to attend the area after a member of the public reported what they believed to be gunshot sounds at approximately 4:20pm yesterday (Thursday 27 October).
A scene guard remains in place between Rutland Street and Hildyand Street whilst police continue with their investigation, conducting lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Chief Inspector Nicola Burnett said: “Two men have now been arrested in connection with the incident and are assisting us with our enquiries.
“We are exploring a number of avenues of investigation to understand exactly what has happened and I can confirm at this time, nobody is thought to have sustained any injuries.
“I would like to provide some reassurance that we believe this to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other with no wider risk to members of the public.
“Members of the community can expect to see extra officers in the area both to carry out enquires and to speak to the community.
“Reports of this nature remain extremely rare in our area, but I would encourage anybody who has any concerns to please speak to one of the team.
“We are appealing for anybody with information that may assist with our enquiries, or if you have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area around the time of the incident, to contact us via our non-emergency 101 number, quoting log 315 of 27 October.
