Gigi Hadid’s dramatic exit: ‘it’s not a place I want to be a part of’

Gigi Hadid is the latest celebrity to exit Twitter as a growing number of high-profile celebrities cite controversy following Elon Musk’s $44 billion Twitter takeover.

On Saturday, the 27-year-old supermodel addressed her 76.2 Instagram followers, informing them she ‘deactivated’ her Twitter account due to ‘its new leadership.’

‘It’s becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and it’s not a place I want to be a part of,’ she wrote on her Instagram Story.

Hadid added she is ‘only sorry to the fans’ that she has ‘loved connecting with for a decade’ on the platform.

Ultimately, she said that she felt Twitter is no longer ‘a safe place for anyone, nor a platform that will do more good than harm.’

The star added a viral tweet, by Shannon Raj Singh, which informed her followers that ‘the entire Human Rights team has been cut from the company.’

TV screenwriter Shonda Rhimes, actor Mia Farrow, as well as Madam Secretary star Téa Leoni, She-Hulk actor Jameela Jamil, as well as authors and activists Shaun King and Amy Siskind, have all threatened to boycott the platform.
