Beloved local cafe to close

In a sad and shocking announcement a much loved local cafe has announced its closure and plans to cease trading within weeks.

Tea in the Park, located in Grant Thorold Park, opened in 2017 after the park library underwent a major refurbishment, creating space for a cafe at the rear of the building.

Serving homemade cakes and drinks, the cafe became a beloved spot to sit by the wall-to-ceiling windows and admire the park.

Sadly, the cafe will now shut its doors for a final time before the end of the year.

Sharing the news on Facebook they said: “We wanted you all to hear it first, sadly the time has come for Tea in the Park to cease trading, it is no longer a viable business to operate.

“We will be closing on December 1st 2022

“We would like to personally Thankyou for your support over the years and we hope new owners will bring fresh hope and creativity to the venue. ”

This is just the latest of many businesses to announce their closure as the cost of living crisis continues to hit local businesses.

Many were heartbroken to learn the news, stating: “Oh no, I was just telling someone how great your cafe is, and what lovely meals, and wonderful cakes you do, you will be so missed.”

Another added: “So sad have loved having lunch and afternoon tea especially the beautiful cakes and scones the staff were always so helpful and kind service was excellent. Thank you all, you will be missed.”
