Grimsby’s Fabulously Festive Weekender

This Christmas season prepare for weekend of ‘fabulously festive’ events as the town centre is transformed into a winter wonderland.

From Friday 25 November until Sunday 27 November, St James Square and Grimsby Minister will hold activities for all the family.

On Friday, head to St James Square to watch the town centre’s lights switch on, adore the beautiful tree and explore incredibly local stalls for the perfect gift and the Christmas market returns.

The All For One choir and East Coast Elite band will perform as the lights are switched on at 6:30pm followed by a blessing from the vicar.

On Saturday 26, festive stalls will be open throughout the day as live music and entertainment take place on the fabulously festive stage.

Performers will include ‘toy-box’ stilt walkers, cheeky elves and the ‘Man in a Christmas present’ with an exciting opportunity to pet small, life-like reindeer.

Alongside the Gaia exhibition inside the minister project sponsors My Energi will be hosting story-telling for children while Top Town Market will have seasonal crafts, live music and walkabout acts.

Head into Freshney Place Shopping centre to track down the grouch Grinch as he causes mayhem and mischief. Santa and his elves will also be out for family photo sand to bring your Christmas wishes to life.

On Sunday 27, the weekends fun will be wrapped up in a bow with tasty food, delicious drinks with live music from The Cleethorpes Band.

Councillor Tom Furneaux, cabinet member for culture and tourism, said: “It’s lovely to see what’s being planned for people to come together and support each other. This event always feels like a good start to the Christmas period! Please do come into the town centre to support your local businesses too.”

This years town centre Christmas event has been organised by The Culture House on behalf of North East Lincolnshire Council, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
