Freshney Place’s bustling late-night shopping returns

Freshney Place shopping centre will run its late-night shopping again this December.

The festive period will see shoppers able to browse the precinct shops until 8 pm every Thursday in December.

It will also remain open until 8 pm on Friday, December 23 with free parking available after 5 pm on later evenings. To continue its Christmas spirit, it will also be opening the door to its very special magical Elf Station on Saturday, November 26.

Children will be able to join Santa and his elves as they prepare for the run-up to Christmas.

The station is free and will open between 11 am and 3 pm on weekends until December 18.

There will be a variety of activities for children to enjoy as well as a chance to meet and greet the big man himself for a festive family photo. Children will also be able to send a letter to the North Pole, with any sent before December 16 receiving a reply from Father Christmas.

Amanda Austin, center director at Freshney Place, said: “For children, there is nothing more exciting than seeing Santa in the run-up to Christmas. Our Elf Station is hugely popular and the Elves will be on hand to help children with some fun activities, whilst Santa will be busy meeting everyone.

“We want to make our Christmas activities accessible to everyone, so they are free of charge. We’re looking forward to a lively fun, festive atmosphere in the centre.”

Freshney Place will also showcase entertainers throughout November and December. This includes the Grinch, who will appear on November 26 as well as December 10 and 23.

Adding to the Christmas spirit, the return of the Have a Heart campaign, gift tags detailing the child’s age and gender can be found at the tree located at the Customer Services Desk, near HMV.

Visitors can also share festive greetings with a local elderly person by posting a Christmas card, letter, or drawing at Santa’s post box.

Simply write ‘Friendship at Home’ on the front of the envelope and post by December 12. These will be distributed by the local organisation Friendship at Home before Christmas.
