Freshney Place to open magical Elf Station

Freshney Place to open magical Elf Station

Freshney Place Shopping Centre is ready to treat local children this Christmas when it opens the doors to its magical Elf Station on Saturday 26 November.

Making for a truly wonderful, festive experience, children will be able to join Santa and his busy Elves, free of charge as they prepare for Christmas in their cheery workstation.

Open every weekend 11am to 3pm until 18 December, there will be fun activities for children to enjoy as well as meeting Father Christmas as he keeps an eye on his Elves at work! Families will also have their chance to take home the perfect memento with a free family photo.

Adding to the excitement, children will also be able to send their special letter to the North Pole using Santa’s post box located near BiBi’s café. All children posting their letters before 16 December will receive a posted reply from Santa!

Amanda Austin, centre director at Freshney Place said: “For children there is nothing more exciting than seeing Santa in the run up to Christmas. Our Elf Station is hugely popular and the Elves will be on hand to help children with some fun activities, whilst Santa will be busy meeting everyone!

We want to make our Christmas activities accessible to everyone, so they are free of charge. We’re looking forward to a lively fun, festive atmosphere in the centre.”

Visitors will also be kept amused throughout the season with visits from entertainers, not forgetting the hugely popular Grinch who will return to Freshney Place on 26 November, 10 and 23 December to cause mayhem and mischief!

Local musician, Marty Clarke will also entertain the crowds with his live music performances throughout late November and December.

For those feeling charitable and wanting to share some festive cheer, they can donate a Christmas gift to a local, less privileged child, in the annual Have a Heart campaign.

Gift Tags detailing the child’s age and gender can be found at the tree located at the Customer Services Desk, near HMV.

Visitors can also share festive greetings with a local elderly person by posting a Christmas card, letter or drawing at Santa’s post box. Simply write ‘Friendship at Home’ on the front of the envelope and post by 12 December . These will be distributed by local organisation Friendship at Home before Christmas.

Late night shopping will be available every Thursady until 8pm from 1 to 23 December. Free parking will also be available on all late nights after 5pm, providing the perfect incentive to buy those Christmas gifts under one roof.
