Kick off the festive season at Scunthorpe Town Centre

The festive season officially kicks off on Saturday 26 November with fun fair rides, festive food and family entertainment in Scunthorpe town centre.

The council boasted a full-day of entertainment that begins with fun fair rides and street entertainers, including ‘awe-inspiring firewalkers and amazing stiltwalkers’, which will take place on High Street from 11am.

A giant snow globe plus a Grab A Grand cube will be free to enter, with a top prize of family panto tickets for the person who manages to grab ‘the most (fake) money in 30 seconds!’.

There will also be an appearance from the famous Grinch, who will be popping up around the town from 12 noon and Sarah Stones as Elsa will be performing in Library Square between 2pm to 3pm.

The Foundry shopping mall will be showcasing a giant Christmas bauble you can step inside.

Visitors will be able to sample festive treats from the food stalls in Church Square Gardens from 3pm to 6pm, including the Cookie People, Fairy Floss, Doughnut Dreams and Death by Fudge.

Local singers and children’s entertainers will be taking to the stage in Church Square Gardens from 3pm.

These will include the Hedley Brothers, Mash, Brandon Hunt, Kayleigh Wilson, Seal The Deal Entertainment, with local girl Rachel Day as this year’s compere.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice will display a tree where members of the public can write a Christmas wish in exchange of a donation, and the

North Lincolnshire Council fostering team will be making decorations and talking to people about how they can change a child’s life.

Both Scunthorpe Central and 20-21 Visual Arts Centre will be open until 6pm, with free festive activities taking place throughout the afternoon, plus a face-painter at 20-21.

A pop-up quiet space for children and adults with additional needs will be available at Scunthorpe Central from 3pm to 6pm. Annie Fanny and the Cinderella cast will be leading the countdown to the official light switch on at 5.30pm, helped by the four young winners of our Draw A Dame competition.

The lights go on at 5.30pm, followed by a snow fall and festive songs from Emma Kelsey.
