Grimsby bridge to close for ‘emergency works’

North East Lincolnshire Council has announced that Alexandra Dock Bridge is set to close for emergency works.

The bridge will be inaccessible from 20:00 today, Tuesday 6 December, until 7am on Wednesday 7 December.

According to the council the work, which will be carried out by Equans and RouteOne, involves the repair of a failed bridge expansion joint to remove a hazard for road users.

The A180 will be closed westbound as a result.

The nearby Corporation Bridge is also set to undergo controversial restoration works costing £5m. These have now been delayed several times. The council says it now expects the project to begin in January.
