Warning to check tyres after driver attempts dangerous mission
Humberside Police are warning motorists to check their tyres after they stopped a driver for have a completely ruined wheel.
Whilst out on patrol in Brigg, officers spotted a car attempting to drive to a local tyre centre over a mile away on a flat tyre.
Police reported the driver for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition as his tyre has completely fallen apart.
Tyres should have a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm around the inner three quarters, with no cuts or bulges in the tyre wall.
Humberside Police said: “Tyres are the most important part of a vehicle, especially at this time of year.
“Before driving your vehicle ensure the vehicle tyres have a minimum of 1.6 mm of tread, there are no cuts or bulges in the tyre wall and there is no wire or core exposed. Tyres should also be checked for pressure regularly, do not attempt to drive on a flat tyre.
“As in this picture, the driver of this vehicle decided to drive to a local Tyre Centre on a flat tyre, which was over a mile away.
“Prior to arriving the vehicle was spotted by Police, as you can see the tyre was no longer and the vehicle should not have been driven.
“Driver reported for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.”
