Parents to appear in court again after tragic death of baby

The parents of a baby who tragically died after a dog attack in Lincolnshire are to appear in court again.

The incident occurred earlier this year, Sunday, March 6, where police and emergency services attended the scene at Ostlers Plantation.

Vince King, 54, and Karen Alcock, 41, of Castledyke Bank near Coningsby appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, December 12.

The judge decided that the pair will appear again on Friday, December 23.

Vince King was the owner of a Husky dog named blizzard and was with Karen Alcock when the dog attacked Kyra King at Ostlers Plantation.

Emergency services were called to the location near Woodhall Spa on Sunday, March 6. Kyra was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcock and King were arrested on scene, and charged with being the owner and/or in charge of a dog which was out of control causing injury resulting in death.

Alcock had not given any indication of plea prior, and King pleaded not guilty. Judge Simon Hirst told the pair to return to Lincoln Crown Court on December 23.

Last month, Lead investigator DC Craig Davey, said: “This has been a profoundly sad investigation for everyone involved in understanding the circumstances around baby Kyra’s death.

“We have kept an open mind throughout this investigation, which has been lengthy and thorough and involved specialist forensic experts and officers from our Protecting Vulnerable People unit. We have now brought charges against two people, and will continue to work with the CPS as the case makes its way through the justice system.”
