Cause of cannabis factory fire is revealed

Yesterday, assisted by Humberside Police, Humberside Fire and Rescue dealt with a major fire at the site where a cannabis factory had been discovered earlier in the week. Now, the cause of the cannabis factory fire has been revealed.

Investigators say that the cause of the huge blaze on Cleethorpe Road was arson.

Emergency services were called to the property on the Riby Square junction, after police officers noticed smoke coming from the building at around 1.15pm.

The fire services fought the fire using an aerial appliance for over an hour.

The junction was closed for hours afterwards while further investigations took place.

Humberside Fire and Rescue have now confirmed that the fire was caused deliberately, after around 278 cannabis plants were seized from the building following a police raid on Wednesday.

Three men have since been charged in connection with the raids.

Krzsztof Wladyslaw Hubar, 30, and Kamil Wojnarowicz, 28, both of Gilbey Road, Grimsby, were charged with production of drugs, possession of drugs with intent to supply and theft.

Shkelzen Gashi, 20, of Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby, was charged with production of drugs and the dishonest use of electricity.
