The UK’s most missed fast food

Kitchen manufacturer Magnet have compiled data on the fast food the UK has missed most during lockdown – and surprisingly, its not McDonalds!

Restaurants and fast-food chains officially closed their doors to the public on 20th March.

According to the guidelines set out by the Government in new Covid-19 legislation, restaurants offering a takeaway or drive thru service were not required to close completely.

But in the interest of public safety, many closed their doors almost immediately.

Since then, we’ve been left with some serious cravings for our favourite meals and take-outs, unsure of when we’ll next be able to enjoy a Greggs steak bake or sausage and egg McMuffin.

Throughout lockdown, several fast food retailers have released some of their most loved recipes.

Using engagement levels from 233 recipe based social media posts, kitchen manufacturer Magnet have compiled data to gauge which fast food the UK has missed most.

A spokesperson for the company said:

“Social media was almost instantly inundated with both professional and amateur chefs sharing their famous recipe replicas.

“It wasn’t too long before restaurants heard our desperate cries for the real thing and started to share their top-secret recipes via their social media channels.”

According to their research, the UK’s most missed restaurants and fast food retailers are as follows:

Nandos
Gregs
Wagamama
Pret
McDonalds
Pizza Express

Due to increasing demand, a number of fast food restaurants including McDonalds and Burger King have now begun to reopen, offering delivery and drive thru services.

But with eat in restaurants such as Nando’s and Wagamama topping the charts, it may be a while before we are able to enjoy some of our nations most missed foods.
