Grimsby and Cleethorpes’ McDonalds prepare to reopen

McDonalds in Grimsby and Cleethorpes are preparing to reopen their drive-thrus at 11am today.

Despite being allowed to remain open for takeaway services, McDonalds closed in March due to the coronavirus crisis.

The fast-food chain has been reopening its restaurants in phases since Tuesday.

Today, it has started to reopen six branches in North East Lincolnshire.

Branches on Lakeside Parkway and Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe opened yesterday.

Due to the long queues seen outside branches nationwide, staff have been busy preparing the car parks at Grimsby and Cleethorpes branches with queue control measures ready.

Stores in both Grimsby and Cleethorpes will take their first orders at 11am.

The restaurants will be operating with reduced hours, and will be open between 11am to 10pm.

They will also be serving a limited menu.

McDonalds will not yet be offering breakfast items, seasonal items, wraps or milkshakes.

A £25 cap will also be in place, and customers are being encouraged to use contactless payments.

McFlurries are still being served.

Most drink options remain available, with the exception of milkshakes, smoothies and coolers.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said:

“We are glad to be back but it will look a little different and may take a little longer, so please bear with us.

“We have fewer employees in our kitchens to enable our teams to social distance and work safely.

“We will have a limited menu (no breakfast or Shakes for now) and will open for reduced hours (11am-10pm).

“We encourage you to use contactless payment methods and cap your spend at £25.

“For those visiting our Drive Thrus, you can browse the menu, order and pay ahead using the My McDonald’s App – we’ll start preparing your order when you’re near the restaurant.

“We’re delighted to be returning to communities across the UK and Ireland, thank you for your continued support and patience. We look forward to seeing you soon.”
