COVID-19 daily toll at lowest since mid-March
The COVID-19 daily toll is at its lowest since mid-March – the number of deaths has risen by 15 to 42,647.
The Department of Health (DHSC) has reported that in the 24-hours 139,659 tests were carried out with 958 results coming back positive.
A total of 8,029,757 coronavirus tests have been carried out and 305,289 cases have been confirmed positive.
Figures for the number of those being tested has been “temporarily paused to ensure consistent reporting” across all methods of testing.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce plans for the hospitality sector to reopen from 4 July and set out whether the two-metre social distancing rule in England can be relaxed on Tuesday.
