Drug raids in Doncaster

Humberside Police make almost 700 arrests

Drug raids in Doncaster

Houses in two Doncaster villages, Edenthorpe and Stainforth, were raided over concerns about suspected class A drugs.

On Friday June 26, followed officers stopping a car which appeared to be suspicious, on Armthorpe Lane, Edenthorpe, in the early hours of the morning.

Cash and suspected class A drugs were found and seized from the vehicle.

The two men and a woman who were inside were arrested.

As a result, houses in Edenthorpe and Stainforth were raided the same morning.

A second woman was arrested as a result of the raids.

South Yorkshire Police say that these are the latest drug raids to be carried out in Doncaster, following an investigation at a property at Large Square earlier this month.

Some drugs were found and two women were also arrested on that occasion.

They added that although crime levels declined in the early stages of lockdown, as restrictions have been eased, they have returned to normal with reports of antisocial behaviour and gatherings in Jubilee Park, Hatfield, and Glass Park, Kirk Sandall.

It is thought that as pubs begin to reopen, there will be a further increase in crime levels.

As such, South Yorkshire Police officers will be working slightly altered shifts when as of July 4.

A spokesperson for the force said:

“We are working with local landlords to find out which pubs will be reopening and what problems they expect to see, and how they are planning to operate.

“We will be looking to deal with any public order problems that may arise, and to support licencees in making sure the public adheres to social distancing.

“Finally, before lockdown, there were problems over thefts of catalytic converters from cars. We have had a few again. If anyone sees anything suspicious around cars, please report it to us.”
