No new coronavirus deaths in Hull

For the longest period since lockdown began, no new coronavirus deaths have been reported in hospitals in Hull.

It has now been four days since the last recorded death at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.

Everyday, the NHS releases figures from trusts across the country, showing new cases and how many people have died in hospital.

These numbers only account for hospitals deaths, and do not include community cases.

Teresa Cope, Chief Operation Officer for Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said:

“Each and every one of those deaths represents a family devastated by the loss of their loved one, people whose lives will never be the same again.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to those suffering the consequences of this dreadful disease. To those families, we say you and your loved ones remain in our thoughts.”

Last week, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said it had reached a “terrible milestone” after it was confirmed that the number of people who have lost their lives to the virus has reached 200.

But, the trust has also managed to send 500 Covid-19 patients home after successfully treating them.

On Tuesday, the UK coronavirus hospital death toll has risen by 43 to a total of 33,255.
